Some strange things have happened to me but this one is up there on the list. 1988 Mercury 150hp XR4 (OB264398) was hesitating so I brought to Merc tech.
His conclusion was not all cylinders were getting spark due to a bad switch box and also found rectifier was bad. One switch box and rectifier replaced. I took it out this weekend and at first she ran ok but after a while she bogged upon giving throttle in gear to the point of stalling out and then when I put the shift lever back in neutral she would start up all by herself. Did that quite a few times without me turning the key and the key was in the "run" position and not stuck in the "start" position. Any ideas or has anyone heard of such a thing? Thanks in advance. Have it on video but can't upload it from my Iphone.
