Dobyns 736cb glass (7’3)
I prefer a Dobyns Fury 734c.
Original Powell Max 754cb glass and for a 7' rod Original Powell Endurance 706cb glass
I picked up a red Halo Starlight med heavy 7'0 at Walmart for like $50 and absolutely love that rod for chatterbaits. Has just the right amount of tip for a good cast and just fells right for me. I have several of them now and you cant beat the price.
Shimano Expride 7'2" MH Glass composite
shimano expride 72 mh glass, and i have one of the new st croix legend glass 7,2 hvy chatterbait rods, and im really digging that rod this year good tip with lots of backbone.

I loved the 7’3” BPS Extreme rod in medium action for this until I dropped a farging ping pong table on it and broke it. Launched the baits well and handled the fish great. Sadly, it is discontinued.

My favorite is an old Lew's Laser 7' medium action with the pistol plus handle. Since these are long discontinued, my son bought a 7' medium heavy (their medium is just a tad too light for vibrating jigs IMHO) BPS Crankin' rod...it works great!

If you want to stay at 7', I've been very impressed with the St. Croix Legend Tournament MHMF. I have thrown a lot of spinner baits, buzz baits, and chatter baits on this rod and it's excellent for those applications. It also handles a full sized Vixen very well. I'm planning on getting the 6'9" version in the near future. If you're considering St. Croix or Dobyns, shoot me a PM or give The Tackle Trap a call for BBC member pricing!

It’s 7’4” rather than the 7’ you asked about but look at the “B-Hiitay” rod in the Ark Honey Badger line. It’s a great chatterbait rod for the money. I like it for traps too. It’s a really nice composite blank and sells for $100-$130.
Not at all a fan of the 736 for chatterbaits under 3/4oz, its a lot of rod IMO. I would look at the 7'2 MH tatula elite howell composite rod.

I have a IMX spinnerbait rod that works well for chatterbaits. A rod that works well for one, will work well for the other in my opinion.

I don't own it, I just know some people love it.

This is a weird one for me because I have been trying to buy “better” equipment but the best Jackhammer combo for me, as I pretty much only use Jackhammers, is a Daiwa Tatula Type R 6.3:1 on a BPS Pro Qualifier 7’ med-fast.
Its also the best spinnerbait combo for me too. I guess I’m glad I got off cheap with these rods because I throw the Jackhammer and a spinnerbait a LOT.
