    Should I be concerned?

About to buy a 2014 721, you can see the wear on the boat from the bunks rubbing. I did some research and others seem to have this issue. What gives? My 20 year old black bottom ranger hardly has a wear mark or none at all. I just want to make sure this doesn’t lead to future issues on an expensive purchase.

No worries...... There are plenty of us that beach our boats. As long as it is just surface scratches it fine. Some of this can also be caused by getting sand in the carpet on the bunks.

I would be. Owned black bottom boats my whole life and never had one with scratches from the bunks. Just imagine how bad it'll look when you go to sell it...

My red bottom Triton had them and my black bottom 721 has them. Nothing to worry about.

Yes, if you take a bucket and scrub bush to them it is amazing how much grit and sand comes out of that carpet!

Yeah, boats that sit in the garage never seem to get them.

I think it shows worse on the Phoenix hull cuzz the strakes are really rounded. I have Gatorbaks without a lot of hours on them and my hull is scuffed.

My boat has them my Skeeter had them as well. I don’t believe any boat that has fished dirty water or been trailered in the rain or dusty roads is not going to have them. It is almost impossible to keep dirt particles out of the trailer bunks. Once dirt is in there it turns the bunk abrasive.

They all get scratches from bunks. I have had them on all my bass and ski boats for the last 30 years.

My 14 920 has them as well. I scrubbed it down every trip. I run in dirty rivers and fish it hard.

My 17 has them. So did my 15 and so did my 13. Get a black bottom and it will show scratches if I worried about the bottom of. My black hull getting scratched I would never fish my home lake at Santee. There is like 2 stumps for every Square foot of water

YES!!! Think about it , when you go to sell it what will be the first question out of the buyers mouth? ( does it have bunk rash). Go to trade it in , what will be the first question out of dealers mouth. ( does it have bunk rash). If not the first question it will be asked about at somepoint. You will then say , well all of them have bunk rash. ( dealer will then say not all of them).

    i would stay far away!

Bradley, Are you confusing minor carpet scratches on the hull with something serious like blisters???

All boats have "bunk rash". It just depends how far the boat travels past the end of the bunks before hitting the bow stop. The only difference is some boats the rash stays hidden under the bunks. If you don't want chaffing from the bunks, back your trailer in to submerge all of the bunks. Then pull forward to the optimum loading level. Problem solved.

If you are worried about scratches on the bottom of the boat don’t come to Santee. That’s like worrying about scuffing the bottom of your shoes

I cant believe there are a few guys on here that say they never had a scratch on the bottom of theyre boat, come on now tell the truth if you have a boat with a trailer your gonna get scuffing and scratching from loading and traveling.
