As a cranking battery, I'd definitely agree - those group 31 commercials are awesome for cranking. Definitely NOT for trolling motor batteries though.

    They weren’t.

Stock got low a year or two ago when they changed labels, but then they started popping back up.

No experience with the Everstart Maxx trollers batteries but the Maxx car batteries suck.

I was just in Walmart Salem, NH. yesterday 6/12. They had the Everstart 29DC MAXX 105AH batteries dated 4/19 $99. They also had the Everstart 29DC (non Maxx) 100AH batteries dated 6/19 $87.

Lots of rumors that Everstart is in the process of a switch from Johnson Controls to East Penn and that the transition was a matter of East Penn ramping up production to meet demand. That would jive with the group 29 in its current form being discontinued, and with Sam's Club slowly making the transition to all East Penn as it has currently vs East Penn in part of the country (Duracell brand) and Johnson Controls in part of the country (Energizer brand) that it had previously. I'm not sure if that means the Everstart name would remain - I assume so - or whether Wal Mart would just transition to the same Duracell "branded" batteries Sam's carries. In either case, they'd be the same battery internally.
You kin git the Dekas at a NAPA Auto Parts. NAPA label. My Phoenix came with all Dekas. Good specs on all of them.

I also remember the old, yellow case MAXX batteries. Those were even better than the existing Everstarts.

I just got 2 new Everstart Maxx 29's. Looks like they went from 845MCA to 800MCA. And the new ones are 115Amp Hrs.... Different handle and says Exide, I'll have to see what my old one at home says. Returned one that was a year old, junk. My fault as I didn't charge them all winter and spring.
