Launched from Occoquan Regional Park around 11:30, and headed up stream to hit the outflow below the dam. Took a few schoolie stripers on a spinnerbait. Then tried some vertical fishing closer to the 123 bridge, but no luck. Marked a lot of fish there in 12-15’ but drop shotting and jigging had zippy effect. Went down and briefly fished some docks at Hoffmasters with zero fish. Took one on the wood across from PW marina, but only a pound. My buddy arrived a little after 3:00 and we immediately went back to Hoffmasters and ducked into a covered slip, opened a Corona, and watched it POUR for 30 minutes. After the rain we fished along the shore below Fairfax Yacht Club, and continued into the pads all the way to Massey (tide was in).Had a blast, boating 6 in the course of an hour, all between 2.5 and 4....All on a white spinnerbait. Tried some top water and soft plastics but with no success. Fished in Massey briefly, picking up one on a ribbon tail. Wanted to fish the grass out front but weather started to come in. Got caught in the rain on the way back (no empty covered slips at Ffx!). Fun day on the river nonetheless.
