When re-doing the carpet on my bunks, I remember hearing to leave a gap on the under side to help in the bunk drying out quicker is this correct leave about an inch of open space on the bottom of the bunk???

That's how I did the bunks on my last trailer, seemed to hold up really well
I just carpeted the 3 sides.

If I were using carpet...I’d leave some of the bottom open. Personally I’d use Gatorbacks....
