Want to try my luck at Glide Baits

I am looking at the R2S S-Waver 168. This is my first try at using any kind of Glide Bait. Was looking at the Megabass I Slide 185 but the hook system and the tail material are making me think twice on it. The R2S is a very good value for the $20. My next question is this. I have a specific Frog Rod/Reel set up. Think its 7-3 with Extra Heavy action. Not sure what the tip is. Can I use this same set up for the Glide Bait? The 168 is 6.75" long and 1-5/8 Oz. Going to be using it mostly in open water or along edges of weeds and docks and etc. Think its set up with either 30 or 50 Lb Power Pro Braid. Thanks for any input.

I use my frog rod (Megabass XX Perfect Pitch) to chuck one but I use a reel with 15 lb co-polymer (P-Line CXX) so there's a little bit of give when a fish takes it. If you have a Carolina Rig or swimbait rod with a more parabolic action give them a shot too.
