    Question Tinting Windows

Considering window tint rather than blinds or curtains. Anybody do their own window tinting or is it better to hire a professional? Any tips or advice is appreciated.

The big problem with tint is not using enough water solution. If you soak the window and the skin before applying then you will have a short time you can move it if needed. Continue to wet with a spray bottle and work from the middle to the edges quickly. Practice on an old window first....

Be careful tinting home windows. Some can get too hot and cause problems with the seal.

Cat fan has brought up an interesting and very important issue...I missed thinking of what was stated in the post by him...There are many, many window companies that void their warranties when tint is applied...if you currently have no warranty...then maybe still consider...if you have one...better do some more research....thanks Cat fan!

We had the upper windows in our two story family room sort of tinted, but mostly UV protected in our new home when we bought 19 years ago. The first installation was way too dark and looked weird, so they came back, took it off and put on the lighter UV protection film. It has a slight tint, but not distracting. It is still there protecting the morning sun blast and doing well.
