Mine is in the Starboard rod locker, and easily accessible. Nothing is in the locker obscures access.
I like it as far forward as possible. If there is a fire, it will usually be in the bilge area or engine.

I have one under the console easy to get to and another one in the front storage compartment on the bow.
I carry two because about 8 year ago a guy's boat was on fire and one just wasn't enough to put out the fire so I now carry two and hope I never need them for my boat or any one else's again.

I have an automatic fire system in my engine compartment that will go off after detecting heat and flooding the entire engine compartment with Halon. I also have a hand held unit in my driver side rod box, and a mounted unit under my center rod locker mounted to the hatch lid. Fire in a boat is not something to take lightly especially with a large tank of gas sitting next to a couple of batteries. Jumping in the water where I fish is very dangerous due to all the huge gators that are always around. You probably wouldn't make it to shore.

Between the driver seat and the center compartment. Fits like a glove. Very accessible.

Unfortunately I had to use my fire extinguisher last year and it wasn’t pretty! I had only had my boat 6 months and while I thought I knew my boat I had never been in an emergency situation.

Some guy, 6-800 yards away was screaming and his boat was ablaze!!

We hauled butt there and my fire extinguisher was right where it should’ve been. Mounted just under my controls where I could reach down and unlock it within 2-3 seconds.

We towed him to shore and I bought a new fire extinguisher and mounted it in the exact same spot!

That guy was freaking out...with good reason! I’d never seen a boat burn down like that.

Starboard rod locker...I know because I had to pull it out two days ago to put out the fire on my trailer when the brakes decided to engage and set the bearing grease on fire. Thankfully it was easily accessible and relatively new. When the trailer gets out of the shop...a NEW extinguisher will be mounted somewhere where I don't have to open a rod locker or storage area first. 16 years of pulling big bass boats. Nearly 40 years of pulling every manner of trailer...First time this has ever happened to me.
