    Live well cable question

I have a new to me 2008 198. Having issues with live well draining. Took the flow rite valve out and cleaned it. But I then discovered the cable must have somehow kinked and will not move. How long of a cable should I buy?

    thanks

I would just take a tap measurement from the open/close switch to the valve. Should be pretty close, add up to the next full foot measurement. I think the shortest cable Flow Rite offers is 6'.

The one for my 210 was either 9 or 10ft. I would disconnect the valve end first and see how tight it is. If it is tight, the outer sleeve could be crushed as it could have moved over under the edge of the tank. If you replace it, you could probably find the path of least resistance with a fish tape. I removed my tank cover and fished it that way, but it was a PITA. I'll be home in a couple of days and may can find where I ordered my cable.

Could you just connect the new cable to the old one and pull it through?

Not if the tank is sitting on the old one. You want to avoid that scenario if possible.

If I remember correctly, on my 198, when I replaced the livewell valve in the bilge if seemed like the wire was loose. It wasn't tight like something sitting on it.

But on mine, it was. And if you reread the original post, good chance that's also the case.
