My smart craft gauge was showing the “water in fuel” warning light so I drained the fuel from the VST and removed the filter. There was a fair amount of debris in the bottom of the filter housing in the VST. The debris looked like caramelized sugar. I cleaned it out and replaced the filter. The warning light is gone and my motor is running normally now, but I would like to find the culprit behind the debris. Does this sound like the inside of the fuel lines desintegrating or something else?
I can’t find ethanol free gasoline near me that is above the minimum octane rating of 91 for my motor so I am forced to run pump gas with ethanol in it. To combat this, I have always put Quikcare ethanol treatment in every tank, but perhaps that is not enough?
