    1997 Evrenrude running hot

Engine warning horn and light came on while on holidays last week so shut down and let to cool. Started it up to see if I still had water flow from the
water pump which I stil had. Will change the water pump anyway but is there any other issues that will cause engine to overheat?

Thermostats stuck will cause this also.....I'd replace both stats and springs.

Finally got to test out on the water today, after changing the thermostat, springs and also sensor which showed signs of shorting out. Started fine like it did on the muffs. Drove about four miles and started to troll through the fast water. within minutes warning light came on and was overheating, Water pissing out the spigot at a good rate but was pretty hot. Engine shut off and trolled back to launcg. Have impeller which I will change over tomorrow and hope that fixes the issue.

Do the whole kit and be sure. It will make a huge difference, especially if you haven't done it in a while.

Definitely changing the whole kit made a difference, good steady stream shooting back six feet.
