    Foil info

What benefits can I expect by adding a foil? I figure bow life and less slip to start but would like real feed back not my assumptions. I run a 2.5l carb 225 on a 20xd. Also are they made specific for a 2.5l vs 3l lower?

I have a 20XD with 250XS. Your boat will stay on plane at a lower speed, mine from 32-35 mph minimum speed for plane down to 22-25 mph. You don't say what lower unit. I run a sportsmaster and getting on plane is a little faster. Might not be true on a torque master.

I'm running a 300XS/20XD makes a HUGE difference on mine. Esp with full fuel and livewells fuel. Helps keep the nose down better when your running in boat wake/waves, helps keep the nose down off the start. You can go a bit slower also without the boat wanting to start to hop.

So do I understand that a foil will help the boat fun flatter and not generate bow lift?

Only at speeds under 35-40, and it makes it come out of the hole flatter. When the boat is going faster and up on the pad, it is out of the water.

I ordered mine from Drew-Tek, seemed like the easiest option http://www.drew-tek.com/parts/product/bailey-hydrofoil/
