Windex was ok on old CRTVs but on today’s LCDs it’s a big no no. It eats away at the protective coatings. Pure distilled water or a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and distilled is fine. You can also occasionally use a 50/50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and distilled which is essentially what screen cleaners are but that too can destroy the protective coatings with frequent use.

Windex VINEGAR, not the regular Windex.

Never even knew they made such a thing and had to look it up. Ingredients are essentially the same with the added acetic acid (vinegar). It still contains the solvents and surfactants that are harmful to LCD screen coatings so my original comment still stands.

Seems like another bandwagon product since cleaning with vinegar skyrocketed in popularity. Don’t see how adding vinegar to the same solvent and surfactant formula makes it gentle but vinegar is natural so it must be good eh?

A little vinegar helps remove the hard water spots.

I use Walmart lens cleaner, large bottle in optical dept a few bucks and also I will mist with a mixture I wipe boat down with, 50/50 white vinegar and a drop of Dawn dish soap. That is what I wipe my boat and motor down with also.

I've been using a mix of 50% alcohol and 50% distilled water for years. Very pleased with the results.

From the manual, pretty much standard wording for all the later models.

    Cleaning the Screen
    NOTICE
Cleaners containing ammonia will harm the anti-reflective coating.
The device is coated with a special anti-reflective coating which is very sensitive to waxes and abrasive cleaners.
1 Apply an eyeglass lens cleaner specified as safe for anti-reflective coatings to the cloth.
2 Gently wipe the screen with a soft, clean, lint-free cloth.
My wife asks if I'm going to fish every day. I can't fish every day. Some days I might be sick.
