Could make your own hot knife. Amazon sells the sleeve but you can also get multi packs of premade ones in various colors for about $2 a sleeve - bout the same as DIY.
I just bought some of the material from amazon, I used 1” which is about as small as I would go for baitcasting rods. I also bought the heat shrink tubing on amazon. I cut with scissors and then lightly heated the ends, worked perfectly fine for me. I made 15 of them for $26!

Hot knives are cheap at Harbor Freight. I use mine for hula grubs.
