    Cooler mods

Has anyone done any modifications to their cooler to make it hold ice a little better? I was thinking of putting thin weatherstripping around the top and a latch to keep the lid down and sealed. Thoughts?

Pre- Cooling is the trick, Phoenix foams the bottom if the coolers very good now, once you get it cold it should keep ice all day and still be cold the next day in 90 degree temps.
sometimes by the end of the day my drinks will have some ice in them.

the night before I put some ice packs or some frozen 2 liter bottles of water on the cooler, before leaving for the tournament I remove them and fill with drinks and water from the fridge and top off with ice, to the top. PLUG IN.
if you want it really cold freeze some bottled water and gator aid.

the rubber under my lid seals off nice until it rains

I've also done what drewtick said about putting frozen bottles in it the night before and it helps a lot. I just take 2 milk jugs full of water and freeze them and sit them in the cooler the night before.

I bought some plastic shoe boxes and freeze water in those.....that gives me some block ice and that holds up good vs. the small chunks of ice from a bag.

My new 721 didn't come with a plug either. Even without it I haven't had much issues with melting ice. I will get a plug anyway lol.

That's ok, we had to ask Phoenix what the 'extra' plug was for.

I plugged my cooler off and use it to hold freezer bags of soft plastics. They are very accessible and it holds a bunch of them. I use a yeti flip 18 and tuck it under the steering wheel when fishing. Works out great. Then at the end of the day I grab the yeti and take it into the house.
