Why does nobody use red in the summer?Do they just not work? I know they will eat a red worm. Anyone use red cranks in the south in the summer?

year round I use Rapala Demon...which is a light red craw color
Once they get deeper offshore, it's shad and brighter colors for me.
I use during winter and spring , never had much luck with them in the summer

Year around for me.
I believe red is a color that fades in deeper water. If it rattles who is to say try it!
all I use on the river is red squarebill
I would think if your lake has craws the a pattern would work best when the shed their shells and are soft. Isnt it like around the full or new mood they shed ? I cant remember.
I personally don’t think it has anything to do with wether they see it well, water color, or anything like that. I think it has everything to do with forage. Summer months bass are keyed on baitfish. That could be shad, perch, bluegill, etc.. that is why your shad patterns, and chartreuse colors are so good in the summer.
If the lake has weeds it seems to work but if no weeds I've had no luck, go figure
2020 Skeeter ZX150
Good spring color on Table Rock.
Not full red but have some brown and red Mann’s 20 or 25+ that I will throw on a deep hump when they quit hitting sexy or citrus shad xds. Sometimes gets them fired back up sometimes not.
I throw red 5/6xd a lot in the summer. Coosa river lakes are Rocky and deep. Works well to crawl down a point with a 5xd.
Red lipless is pretty much just a late winter/spring bite.
