    Freedom is not free.

Thank you to all who sacrificed so much for our freedom.

I hope you give this interview 5 minutes of your time. It surely brought a tear to my eye and lump to my throat.

I have the upmost respect for our veterans and those that currently serve. The bravest men and women in the world for sure. I wish all of you that have served and that currently serve our country a very Happy Memorial Day. You all are in my prayers constantly.

My dad was aboard his ship headed back to Pearl when they got the news that the war was over. It was the middle of the night and everyone was running "dark" (lights out). They got the good news and were told to run Light. He was the signal man on the task force flag ship and send out the word "the war was over turn on your lights".
He said in the middle of the Pacific, in the middle of the Night it looked like the stars had fallen from the sky and land on the water.. cool!
FYI the entire task force was going to be readied to return for the Invasion of Japan.. Thankfully that didn't happen.
