    Question Z520 with a G2

Looking at a 2017 Z520 with a G2. Owned Mercs and Yamaha but never a Evinrude. Anyone have this combo and
can let me know your thoughts. Thanks Greg

I have a 2008 repowered with a 2019 G2 250 HO. It’s unbelievable. It will jump out of the hole even when trimmed all the way up. It will run 72-74, depending on temps, tournament loaded with me and my partner, we both are 6’ 4” and weigh 240 each. I have power steering and won’t even have another without it. The stability at speed is unlike any other outboard I’ve ever driven. You will love it.

Have you looked at Rodney’s 2018 that’s for sale on here? I believe it only has 40 hours on the G2.

I’ve yet to be in one that didn’t impress me. Had a 225 G2 on a 2017 z519 and that thing was amazing. Great hole shots and neck breaking mid range. Lol.

Yep, I have the same rig [2018]. And it is more fun to drive than most can imagine. 83 hours on mine last year and loving it again this year. Apparently mine won’t end up being a garage queen.

Thanks Warren for the bump, I have been running the G2 since they came out un 2014, no problems on my part except for soft wear updates the first year, very impressive engines.

When my G2 was running on my 2018 520L, I was very impressed. The engine delivered great torque, hole shot, fuel and oil efficiency and top end speed for that heavy boat. Unfortunately I had a faulty fuel water separator assembly (twice) with major fuel leaks and it crapped out the engine. I am getting a fully dressed power head installed this week so hopefully it will be fine after that. They have updated the part twice since 2017 and the newest edition, February 2019, is supposed to take care of any gasket leak issues. With some influence from the Ranger and Evinrude staffer that I purchased the boat from, BRP took care of me.

I don't have the G2, and I know it's kinda apples-n-oranges .......... BUT, I did have the same reservations before buying my current boat last year after having owned many Yamaha's and Merc's since my last JohnRude ....... and I grew up in an OMC household.

With that said, I've had nothing but praises to sing for my eTec and Z520.

    Good Luck with your decision!

I have a 2017 Z521c with the G2 on it. Absolutely love it. Zero issues with just under 100 hours on it.
