    Atlas Jackplate Trailering Questions

Hello few questions for you atlas owners. I have a 4” plate on a champ 184.

    1. Can I trailer with my plate raised 2 inches? When I have my motor tilted the steering hose fittings hit the transom when the plate is down.

2 what are my options if not?

They recommend it being all the way down, but I doubt 2 inches is going to hurt anything.

I've always heard all the way down... But when leaving the ramp most guy have them at various heights... I've seen guy with them raised all the up and no toter... Can't see where an inch or two can be detrimental... Dan

Thanks, I can’t either as long as it holds it’s position I guess. Can’t see what else I would do as you can’t move the fittings.

I believe it puts undue stress on both plate and transom...that said 2 inches is likely ok

I raise mine due to the same concern of the hydraulic lines hitting the transom. No problem.

I had a 6” Bob’s Machine Shop JP on my 20’ bay boat and I would raise it up all the way and leave the Mercury trimmed down. I figured it was less stress on the transom while trailering. I got the idea from the saltwater guys, a lot of them did it so I (blindly) followed.
