I have use mine for multiple techniques. Honestly its one of the more versatile nrx rods in my opinion. 3/8-1/2 oz pitching jigs, carolina rigs, great for football jigs, swing heads, i really liked throwing reaction innovations skinny dippers with this rod as well.

Like all the non MBR rods they excel and worm and jig apps. Can do other things in a pinch like frog, spinnerbait, chatterbait, etc.

Even though it says 3 power, it's more like a 4-5 power in the Loomis NRX range.

The NRX 873 is just a fantastic all around rod. Swim Baits, jigs, Texas And Carolina rigs. Even shaky heads. It’s very sensitive and great power. I like it a lot. If I’m throwing 1/2 to 3/4 jigs it’s all about the NRX 894 the king of jig rods.

I really like my 873 CRR. I use it for Carolina rigs, Texas rigs, 1/2 football jigs, and hollow bodied frogs. It is an extremely light rod for a 7.3 rod and casts very well. I know people love the 894C, but in my opinion, the 873CRR is more versatile.

Excellent rods! Whacked about 20 large mouth on the new rods! Was flipping cattails and reeds. Biggest fish was over 5... very nice, light and comfortable with an SV 103! Nicest stick I own personally. Set one up with 17 lb floro and one with 30 lb braid. Very sweet set up!!
