    Flat vs. Raised (domed) decals

Replacing the decals on my 1996 R70. The originals were flat and I didn't think they looked bad. But now that I am replacing I am wondering if the domed would look better.

Anyone have experience with the longevity of flat vs. domed decals? I am wanting something that will last and look good.

Domed can get scraped off easier, catch limbs. I prefer flat

I have had the Domed Numbers decals for years on 3 boats and never had one come loose. They use a really good adhesive on them. They look a lot better IMO.

I have domed numbers decals for my reg numbers. They did a factory match to my triton. They look great! Actually get compliments on them at the ramp. They can do any colors you want.

Domednumbers has already done the artwork, but they are giving me the option of domed or flat. I’m just trying to decide which to go with. Mostly because I have heard people say they have had some of the domed lettering (not sure if from domed numbers) come off.

I just wet sanded my entire 06 Ranger using Pro-Tec products and had to take off my dome lettering which still looked like new after all those years. Called Ranger and got the Ranger domed lettering but they did not carry the others anymore. Went to Domedlettering.com and ordered the 188VS. They looked great. Vinyl (flat) lettering will be cheaper. But I wanted to keep it original.

Have a good one and thank God for it!

I've had domed registration letters on my last 3 boat, all matching the the boat manufactures font. I've never lost or damaged them... Go with Domed Numbers, you won't be sorry... Dan

I like the domed better myself. I'm trying the Pro-Tec products on mine and have used a heat gun and removed the domed decals from it. After I finish wet sanding and the buffing what would you use to reattach the decals with?

If the letters are above the rub rail and inside the edge of the rubrail I think they will stay on . If they are below the rubrail they will likely get washed off in rough water.

No way I’d chose domed over flat for these very reason. My skeeter has domed ones.....I’m missing half of them. Lol

There is no difference in the adhesive used on domed graphics, they are made from the same vinyl, just with the resin added.
Prep the surface well before you apply them, they should last many years
