I've been a full time resident of Tennessee for 5 years now. I previously lived in the Socialist State of Illinois so this place seems great to me.

They're alive and well in East Tennessee and Western NC. My sister lives in Banner-Elk, NC and she calls them the "Forgotten People." Often runs into them in Walmart and is stores. They seldom come ont of their Hollows.

We bought a house on Norris Lake near New Tazewell. We love the area but not sure if we'll retire there... The wife doesn't want to move too far from the grandchildren. And I'm not sure if I want to continue to maintain two houses... Decisions, decisions... Dan

Home is Home, no matter where you're from. A clean break in retirement is often healthy for all parties, however. We keep a place on the river and a place in the mountains.

By the time I retire, TN will be packed and ruined. I'll probably have to settle in Utah or some other state that no one wants to go to.

The people of Walmart seem to be similar no matter where it is. When we had our RV we used to camp a lot in Livingston, TX. We’d alway go buy a lot of supplies at the local Walmart. The Livingston Walmart on a Friday or Saturday night was pure entertainment. I’d classify the Livingston Walmart as a top ten for redneck, meth head, white trash, just plain crazy.

Nashville and surrounding area is basically a foreign trade zone. Most signs are not in English and the mexican speaking population is off the charts.
