    Cost to replace Champion Trailer

I had my boat and trailer inspected late last year - trailer was deemed safe and no cracks were detected on the top rear starboard portion of the boat. Last week coming home from the lake I had a leaf spring break which resulted in cracking the frame of the trailer and tearing off the rear step on the rear starboard side of the trailer. Walking around the boat immediately following the incident after I stopped my truck, I detected a crack in nearly the exact location where the frame of the trailer cracked. It appears to be just a stress crack in the gel coat.

The trailer was inspected and to do the repairs is estimated at $1300. Progressive will only cover the damage after the leaf spring breaking. Progressive is sending me a check for roughly $800 - no deductable and the rest is on me. I asked about the boat crack and naturally Progressive is saying there is no way to prove the trailer leaf spring breaking and subsequent crack in the frame caused the crack. I need to take the boat to a fiberglass repair shop and have them go back and forth justifying how the crack happened. UGH.

To me, $1300 to fix the original single axle trailer isnt worth it, I honestly prefer to just get a new dual axle trailer since the current trailer is 15 years old and rusting out. What is the approximate cost of a Dual Axle Aluminum Trailer that would fit a 198 Elite? I need to start looking while I wait for the insurance check.

I wouldn't spend a nickle on a rust bucket painted trailer. Not when aluminum is the same price.

Checked On aluminum trailer a few years ago, Sport Trail, Coastline and McClain trailers. They were all around $3500.0-4,000.00 or so.

Coastline - Got an "over the phone" rough estimate last year, for my 188 Elite. Basically $4500 - $5500 for a tandem axle, depending on options, brakes, etc. I would go with them, no doubt.

I bought a new tandem from Coastline a few months ago for my 198. Got the full deal. Brakes, black anodized beams, big boy steps, etc. Spent around $6 by the time it was all done. It's a pretty bad ass trailer. You gotta go down to Seadrift and hang out for a day or two while they build it around your boat.
