    Drop Shot rod recommendations

I am looking for a new drop shot rod for my son. We recently won a little money in a tournament and he also received a new Revo Rocket spinning reel as a door prize. I'm looking for something in the $200 range. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Congrats! I know it's above budget at 299$, but the Orochi XX Whipsnake is an amazing dropshot/finesse rod. Second, closer to 200 at 219$, would be the St. Croix Avid X 6'9"ML or 7'0"ML.

Abu Garcia Villain 2.0 in either the 6’10” or 7’ ml. Or if you drop shot around cover and Texas rig your worm I’d go with the 7’ medium as it’s a bit more versatile

Phenix M1 7'2" Medium. Phenix blanks are over-rated when it comes to power, the M is more like a ML. The blank is XF, also makes a nice ned rod. $175

I've never fished the factory rod but I've built on that blank and it's a good one.

I use the st.croix avid x 7’ ML....works well for my liking and also does other techniques well. Tackle Warehouse should have a Memorial Day sale coming this weekend, should be in you price point with ease

I was actually looking at the Levante series Whipsnake. I have one of the spec R's and its a sweet rod.

The Megabass Levante Whipsnake is an excellent choice. If you like the DSR feel, fit, and finish, you'll really enjoy the Whipsnake too.

Is Tackle Trap doing any Memorial Day sale? Interested in the Levante Whipsnake and the Tatula AGS 7'1" Ehrler rod.

Of those 2, I'd definitely go the tatula ags. Those rods are special.

I use the ALX Maestro. Nice rod, light and sensitive.

What size weight and worm are you fishing? If you throw, or occasionally throw, anything heavier than a 1/4 ounce, I think the Whipsnake maybe underpowered.
