    Ultrex support post question

    Hey Guys,

I have my new Ultrex and love it. However, the support pole that you cut to length that rests on the deck carpet has one plastic nut underneath and it came with a cheap plastic cap for the top. The cheap plastic cap flew off and I lost it. It never did anything anyway. However, the post keeps loosening and gets too long for my motor to lock down. I have to keep screwing it back up. It seems like there should be a nut at the top as well. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? I am thinking about trying to get another black plastic nut for the top but this is is every outing pain in the backside.

    Thanks in advance!

The nut should be tightened enough to use as a "jam" nut that keeps it from unscrewing. No need for a nut on top.

Agreed. The top cap shouldn’t add anything to it and is only used if the installed length leaves it sticking up past the mounting bracket. Set your length and then tighten the jam nut. Mine hasn’t moved at all.

Mine worked loose every time I went out. It would be 1/4” below base. I tightened it every time with a crescent wrench I carried for the purpose. Use a drop of blue locktite on threads then snug it up.

I replaced the plastic nut with 2 stainless nuts so they can be locked in place and never move again

I set them and have never had to readjust them since (2 years)
