    warning buzzer barely audible

So a new to me problem. The warning buzzer is working but barely audible. To me this is dangerous as if your boat has a problem, you want to hear it. Symptoms are simple, turn the key and normally you get a loud beep to signify the event. Now I get the normal length and duration, but you can barely hear it but only in a quiet moment. I looked under the console and the buzzer or whatever its called is not there, seems to be behind the panel where the key and accessory plug are that is in front of the gear shift handle.

A friend of mine is a marine mechanic and he said they go bad and he'll just replace it. I am ok with that, but I like to know if anyone has experienced that and if maybe there are other gremlins at play? maybe a mouse got back in that area and chewed? Bad ground somewhere? Or just replace and go from there which is my plan. Mechanic says its a 30 minute job.

    thanks for the help.

I used to have the same issue so here is what I did on my last boat. Scroll down to post #9. I used the long skinny one and mounted it where I could see it at all times. It is extremely bright so you will be able to see it even in bright sunlight. http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread....t=#post3914916
