    prop for a 200xri on a 491vs Ranger

I’ve got a near new 23p high five on a 96 ranger 491vs and I can barely turn 5100 rpms and it’s a 53mph boat when in my mind it should be mid 60s. No jackplate. Any help would be appreciated fellas. Its on a 96 200 xri.

too much prop sitting too low or motor is not developing 200 HP . I had 92 481 I bought used that had too big a prop and I could only spin 5200 rpms and cavitated badly in turns . Someone suggested I call Ranger Boats performance department for advice . They suggested a smaller tempest 23" prop and starting engine height to set the jack plate at and go up from there . Saved me a bunch of time and money in the long run . They probably still have records for your hull and could assist .

Have you tried a different prop?

You should be able to spin a 25 pitch prop no problem with that motor. I spin a 25 tempest on my 200 xri on a 19' Champion to 6000
