    Legend to Phoenix

Just wanted to say I went yesterday and ordered a new 2020 920 pro Xp. I have been running a Legend since 2015 but since Johnny bought them out and shut them down who knows what the market for Legend boats will be. I went with a Phoenix because it road as welll as my Legend it was a lot dryer and a lot faster. I gave up a lot of deck space but gained a lot of speed. I could have went with a nitro or ranger and got a bigger deck but then I would have had to buy a Johnny Morris boat and that is not going to happen right now. That said in 9 to 11 weeks I will be a Phoenix owner.

now what happens when Johnny buys Phoenix?? Haha...just kidding...I have not heard anything that would lead me to believe that will be happening soon.

And I have heard rumors that he is looking. But at this moment it is just rumors. I talked to a gentleman that knows the owner of Phoenix well and he assured my that would never happen. But everyone knows money talks.

That's what JM does, he buys a company that builds a better boat then him and he kills it. Even the ones he kept around aren't what they used to be. Not a big difference in quality between Nitro, Triton and Ranger anymore from what I've seen.

I’m pretty sure that JM bought Legend for the facilities and workforce. He bought a company with extremely low sales and re-tooled it to build boats that sell well (Triton). It was just a business transaction to maximize profits, and was not based on “killing” a company that builds a better boat.
JM isn’t the only guy in the industry focused on maximizing profits. Why does boat manufacturer X use lower grade carpet or manufacturer Y outsource their trailer manufacturing? To maximize profits. ifs the American way.

But it was ok to buy a Johnny Morris motor? You do realize he is the largest shareholder in Mercury?

Hah, still a 50M position in a side business is rather respectable.
