Unhappy 1998 Johnson venom 200hp surging

My 1998 Johnson venom seems like it is not getting the fuel it needs. I have to pump the primer bulb on the back of the boat in order to be able to accelerate. It will also surge around 40 mph then die. Any ideas?

Sounds like the fuel diaphragm side of the VRO is going out.

I opened up my vro and the o rings and parts look good. Anything else that might be causing these issues?

Try a portable tank hooked to the motor. Will tell you if it is the boat side or the motor side.

Great idea thank you. I pulled the vro and used a rebuild kit even though everything looked fine and tested the boat out on the water. It ran great but have a hard time starting unless I gave it gas with my hot foot. Fix one problem and on to the next one I guess haha
