    Verado or Opti

Looking at a pair of used Phoenix PHX21’s. both 2018, both low hours, both similar electronics and trolling motors. Both have 8ft power pole blades.

the verado is $2500 more money, the opti has 1 more year of warranty 5years vs 4. I’m leaning towards the verado boat because it’s quieter, has hot foot and hand control throttle and no more merc oil. My concern is with the heavier motor and poles that it will be ass heavy. Also, I’m not one that really needs to go to fast. I fish Mississippi River, Green Bay, and a lot of lsmall idle only lakes.

    any thoughts?

    thanks

VRod is a proven motor. New Optis are 4 stroke anyway, so the oil thing is a moot point.

On my second v-rod. Had a 2016 250pro, and now a 2018 350, both have been great. Smooth, quiet powerful.

I'd take the vrod, extra 100 pounds is fine and I have seen some sweet bird videos with vrods. They use the same block to crank out 400 hp so 250 is just purring along should last a long time

Verado. Easy choice. Nothing against the Opti. I’ve had a couple, and they were great. But the Vrod is on a different level.

Bass boats and motors are insanely expensive....the difference in fuel consumption are a non factor relatively speaking.

Have you checked out a Bass Cat with a Suzuki???... Just kidding... I'd go with the Opti and purchase extra warranty... I'm just a 2 stroke kinda guy... Dan

I have a 350 Verado and it really is not that much more thirsty than the 250 Opti I had. It certainly burns more fuel but it really is a non factor unless you put a couple of hundred hours a year on an engine. If you don't run wot all the time is is too close to worry about. On wot the vrod does burn more fuel with the super charger. I have 125 hours on mine with no concerns. The power steering is worth the difference IMO plus they are just very reliable.

I have a 721 with a v rod and love it. It has 300 hrs on it and runs like new. It's a little heavy but it's worth it. Sitting at the wheel facing forward at idle I can't hear it running.

I'd choose the vrod just so I didn't have to worry about the torquemaster blowing seals and a compressor detonating but a vrod and a bravo on a 21phx is a sweet combo. Don't worry about the weight, phoenix's run better with a heavy rear
