    Lower Unit Issue

    Went out on a buddys boat with him this afternoon its a 06 ? Etec. We were running WOT and something started ticking in the lower unit.
    Didnt pay it much attention and it got worse and all of a sudden bang clank clank. What ever it was broke and started knocking. If you go over idle speed it knocks and clanks very hard. We thought it may have been a spun hub, but we switched props and it still the same. Sound familiar anyone ? Has the lower unit gone out ?

    Drain the oil and look for chunks of metal.

    Probably lost some teeth from the pinion gear and continuous running finished off the unit. Just guessing, I would say you're looking at replacement.
