    Crankshaft inspection? 1989 Johnson GT150

What exactly should I be looking for when it comes to inspecting crank shaft? Ill make sure i check crank pins and journal measurements.. my concern is the grooves that are located on side where the main bearing races would be seated.. are those grooves normal?

That crank looks damaged....cant tell for sure but the sealing ring groove walls look beveled and distorted. Some more pics maybe?

When you say "sealing ring groove walls" ill assume you are talking about the 2 walls that have the groove in them? I hope, since there is 2 walls with grooves in them.. i used micrometer today for better inspection.. everything is in spec. Maybe the photo is a bit hard to see. Ill take more tomorrow. I dont think there were any beveled edges, may have just been the photo playing tricks.. but my main concern was those grooves. Are they supposed to be there? Assuming everything else is fine, the grooves are the only thing im questioning to be able to move forward with this crank.

It was a middle cylinder, i believe port side. Only cylinder. Rest were fine.. all needed honing. But the one cylinder had broken ring.. all pistons looked good..

The edges that look beveled seem to be factory because i can see factory lines in them. Ill take pics tomorrow.
