Primary use?
Pretty much just general use. I really don't use my reels for specific techniques except for drop shotting when I use a spinning reel.

For general use, the metanium dc would seem better; the line capacity is large enough to ensure you have a range of presentation options and the dc will make for some stress free bomb casts. That being said, those are two excellent reels, even if the alde is more a small bait specialist than the met dc. You’ll probably enjoy both tho. Nice problem to have, picking between those two :)
Aldebaran MGL 50 is 4.8oz. If you value lightweight combos, it's the way to go. If you like the DC whine, I guess the Met DC.. I use Aldebaran 50 for everything because I like smaller reels due to the weight and for bass, you don't need that much line capacity. We'll see if they hold up for heavier lures.
We have plenty of Smallmouth up north, especially if you want to make a quick trip into Idaho to fish the Snake River. I do enjoy my trips to Sandhollow thought!!!
Smallies to me generally means a little lighter presentation which would better suite the aldebaran mgl.

I don't have a Metanium DC but three MGL's and one Aldebaran MGL. I love the Mets but when I pick up that Aldebaran (actually bought it for my wife's small hands) I have a thought in my head that "damn this little thing is unbelievable".
I had the Aldebaran MGL and current have a Metanium DC for sale on here. If you like smaller size and weight it is a no-brainer. The DC will feel smoother and allow you more carefree cast. Especially in the wind and skipping. That being said I picked up an Aldebaran BFS JDM reel and started using lighter tackle. I just cant go back now to the heavier stuff. Also I found the Aldebaran BFS reel cast much better, for 1/4 - 1/2 rigs which is mostly what I using then the normal sized reels with much less effort on the wrists.
