24 V Terrova cuts out after 7 or 8 min on power level 6.

I have a 1992 Ranger 690 C. It has the 4 wire plug for the 24 Volt system. The plug is warm when it cuts out. The trolling motor works fine after a short time to cool down.

My questions 1) Is it just a bad plug setup or Breaker? 2) What guage wire was used to run the old trolling motor plug? 3) If I go to a 3 wire plug should I replace my wires and breaker?

    Thoughts

    Thank you

Most probable cause is an auto-resetting breaker that is too small for the new motor.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
    nothing else matters.

A 92 Ranger should have 6ga wire from the batteries to the trolling motor. I would suggest converting this to a two wire system, do away with the "jumper" that is in the plug and make the jump at the batteries. Just disconnect the two wires not being used and leave in boat. Make sure all connections are tight and go with a 60A breaker.
