    Using damaged prop

Hi folks, I’m wondering if there are any serious issues for me to keep using a damaged prop (one of the three blades was off). I know the output is reduced and some more vibrations are expected. Thanks!

YES never run a out of tune prop. It will cause lower unit damage. It puts a ton of stress on the gears, prop shaft and everything in that general area. I had a Mercury dealer tell me he has seen Mercury deny lower unit warranty claims from guys running props with obvious damage to them.

Get a new prop and have the damaged one repaired as a backup. Do not run a damaged prop. Not worth the damage to motor.

Ok. Where can I get it repaired please? It’s an aluminum alloy one and lost one blade (half of it). Thanks.

A prop shop might replace the blade but I'd toss it and get a new one.

You can't have it repaired if it's missing part of a blade.

I don’t recall the name of the place that did mine. Local dealers should have some sources but half a blade gone is probably not repairable.
