Got my 106 today. Looks like a really nice unit. Will hopefully get to rigging tomorrow. I've got to decide what to do for transducer configuration. Definitely want the GT50 on the transom. Not sure if I want to putvthe GT54 on the other side or on the trolling motor. Routing the wire for a separate transducer on my XI5 sucks...Also, gotta figure out where to rerout my wires to since the new gimbal mount doesn't have a spot to rout them through. I guess I need a 12 pin y cable as well. I didn't realize the second 12 pin port is lvs12 only. So much to do... Glad its amateur weekend. Gives me an excuse to take my time and do it right. I will most certainly NOT be on the water this weekend!

I should probably get some clarification first... With the dual 12 pin y cable, will I be able to view 2 sources of 2d sonar simultaneously? Or do I need to have 2 head units and network them?

With a single Ultra unit, you can only have one source of 2D sonar (just like the previous echomaps). The 12-pin y cable you are referring to is designed to split out the xducer signals with either paired thru-hull transducers, or two transom-mount xducers with SideVu blocked by the lower unit of the outboard. From the right-side transducer, it uses the traditional disc, ClearVu, Right-SideVu, temperature sensor and Garmin ID. From the left-side transducer, it uses only the Left-SideVu.

Oh, shoot! So, I can't even select which transducer I want to pull which functions from? Glad I didn't buy it yet hah. I guess I will be keeping my 93s+ and networking... Lord, now I have to find space for another head unit haha.

We've shipped a few of the Garmin echomap Ultra 126sv with GT54. Most of the other models are due in by the end of the month.

Hoping somebody will post some screenshots from these new units. Would love to see some Livescope shots as compared to the 93sv plus unit that I have. Would also be nice to see some side and down images using the UHD transducer. I'm hoping to get this unit soon!

Thanks in advance for any images you can post!

So, for me, I just recently picked up a '07 BC Puma that has HB 998 and 898's on it. I am looking at getting rid of those and going with the 106sv's. Do I only need to get one unit with the GT-54 or get them with both? My plan is one 10" at the bow and one at the console. If I need to only get one GT-54, which through-hull do I need to get for on-plane? Also, (besides livescope , not in budget yet) what else would I need to pick up for the install?

For the bow, you can get the one with the GT 54......as for the console, if you want a 2d shoot thru for speed, then i'd say get the GT8 or GT15......if you are wanting Ultra High Def in the rear then get the GT34 UHD ducer, it will plug directly to the unit. The GT54 is an all in one ducer (side/down/2d) and if installed on rear you will need to put it at the pad to get a 2d reading while on plane.

As for additional items, you will need the marine network cable and if you want a heading sensor then you will need the nmea network and steady cast heading sensor. Most everything will come for mounting.
