Why can you run iridium plugs 100000 miles in a car engine but they need to be changed at 100 hours or once a year on a Mercury outboard engine?
Why can you run iridium plugs 100000 miles in a car engine but they need to be changed at 100 hours or once a year on a Mercury outboard engine?
Because you are burning oil in the combustion chamber which fowls the plugs, Plus outboards spend a majority of their time above 3500 rpms and vehicles don’t. Plus, when a car motor stops running well you pull into a gas station or service center, not an option 60 miles offshore, so a need for a larger safety margin.
