Nicely done!
"The man of system is apt to be very wise in his own conceit; and is often so enamored with the supposed beauty of his own ideal plan of government that he cannot suffer the smallest deviation from any part of it…He seems to imagine that he can arrange the different members of a great society with as much ease as the hand arranges the different pieces upon a chessboard.” Adam Smith, The Theory of Moral Sentiments

Ok, I can understand the problem w/the age. I thought maybe it was
a very late model which shouldn't have any issues. LDS

Wow, that's a big DIY job. Very nice!!
My buddy has had 3 90's Crestliners and has had to do that to all of 'em.
That looks great! Very impressive indeed!
How did the water get on there like that- do you leave your plug in or something?

the water came in along the cap that covers the top of the transom and through the engine bolt mounts. The cap that the company uses that goes along the top edge, it was held in with a screw in each section going straight down, which went in to the edge of the wood they used ( not treated as well ). Well this method they used sucked. Plain and simple. We all know screws suck with trailering boats, and especially aluminum. So what I did was, I used the same cap, but you can see in my picture labeled work in progress - I ran bolts crossways through the transom and the cap. Before installing the cap, I put alot of 3M 5200 down allllll along the edge too. This way there are no voids for water to collect in or trail down the wood into the boat. These are all steps that boat companies could incorporate into the boat building process but I would imagine that they would cause the price to go up as well. It's all about making a profit. After-all, they are not Unicef.
Looks good! Like you said, should last a good long time.
Nice work! I don’t see you having that issue again!
