    Adios to my RT178

Hardest boat to sell I've ever had and I've sold quite a few.

Interesting. I've kept my eyes peeled for either a RT188 or RT178. The only ones that are nearby are within a few hundred of the cost of a new boat. So, what did you replace it with?

This is not directed at the op but That’s the thing. That boat should have some demand but if it is priced close to new it will not sell. Also most sellers highly value their add ons which they paid thousands of dollars for that the buyer will not pay for.

Do you mean it was hard to let go or hard to get somebody to buy it?

My loaded 2017 RT188 was close to 30K OTD, our tax rate is high on initial purchase. I figure I'd be doing good to move it in the low 20's. People would just buy a new one if the price wasn't right. Good deal on selling the 178, now the hunt begins for something new.

LOL guess that could mean hard to let go. Difficult to find a buyer is what I mean.

Have not replaced it yet . I really liked that boat. New job won't let me fish during the week or much at all. We'll see how that goes, lol.

I snagged a 2015 Rt-188 with 75 Hours on for under $18K from a ranger dealer. All the prvt market ones I looked at were north of $22K with more hours

I like the 178. I looked them over closely at the Tulsa Boat show this year. Congrats on the sale!

If that has a 115 on it that's a heck of a deal. Even with a 90 its a good deal.

All depends on price given the model yr, hrs, condition, what’s included. Too many variables and not enough info.

We bought our 2016 RT188 w/ 2017 Yamaha SHO on it for it $21,000.00 a year ago.

It had 80 hours on it and looked like it had just came off the showroom except for a couple places on the carpet needed cleaning.

We were looking at a new Tracker Pro Team 175TXW which was going to be right at $19K so it was a no brainer.

We drove 5 hours to Dripping Springs to pick her up.

When I got my 2014 178 last October I had to drive almost 600 miles for it. There were none any closer.

Hate to say it but this sounds like another great example of why you should always buy a boat with Max hp rating...if this had the 75 I bet it would've sold faster

$14.4K sounds about right. That was a pretty basic boat accessory wise. I had people beating my door down to get my RT178 with 60 hp. Sold it for $2000 less than I paid for it. Paid $16.5K, sold it for $14.5K.

Sounds like you had a nice boat. Assume it was not the camo version (as those move slower).

My experience is that these boats hold their value...at least better than expected. I bought my 2015 RT178 60HP without electronics and trolling motor from a previous owner who used it once or twice, so brand spanking new but still (barely) used.

I kept it mint. I stripped all electronics and TM off and sold it a few months ago for what I bought it for. $14.8K. Took me three weeks before it was sold. It was a nice boat, my first. I was pleased that it went to a great home.

Ranger’s annual price increases keep the used market value afloat...at least that was my experience.

“Holds their value” depends on how you bought it. I bought mine at MSRP since I bought it new. I priced one on the Ranger website with the same options at 32,900. I have about a grand of dealer installed options, or maybe 35 OTD? It would still only bring low 20’s on resale today tho it’s a garaged and in great condition copy.

This is my third Ranger product over the years. IMO they don’t “hold their value” better than any other premium brand. I’ve actually done much better selling my Champions and Basscats when it comes to percentage of selling price returned.

IMO the area of the country you live in plays a big part of how fast one resales.
