    21 SST Speed

Guys, current Ranger owner, but looking at a 2019 SST with a 250 Mercury 4 stroke. Can i get 80 mph with this rig? What about the speed difference in a 250 vs. 300? Consider same prop and fuel, and so on and on.

Sure it will. With the 300R you could be in the 90 club easily. Paul Nichols ran a 21SST with a 300R testing props with mercury and hit the 100 mark with the Max5 prop. It wasn’t loaded to fish. There’s a thread on here about it.

    here ya go, https://www.boattest.com/review/bullet/3781_21sst

With the 250R 80 should not be a problem set up just close to correct. Honestly a 300R will push the boat faster than you can likely drive it without a LOT of seat time. The 300r should do low to mid 90's in fishing trim.

I run a SST with a 300XS. Empty it runs 94 with out much setup work at all. You should love it. If you use the new 4 strokes it will set very low in the back. I packed my jack plate and put a top and bottom plate on it. It does help with backwash.

You should be between 81 to 84 fully loaded 2 men in the boat tournament morning. But if it gets rough out knock that number down to 50 mph or lower.

easily, but you'll need to ease into it after being in a Ranger, I have a 21RDC with a 300XS that will run in the 90's, if I took some stuff out of it, I probally could get close to trips(100mph)

With 250R, it will run 88-91 with fishing load, full tanks, 36v Ultrex, 2-12" graphs hanging in the wind with one person. Add another person, it's 80-83. With

300R with same load and right prop, has run 97.4 with water in wells. Drain the wells, boat will run over 100. With two people, same load it'll run 94-95 range. This aren't BS numbers..I own one and have done the testing - with the 250 Pro XS, it be kinda like hobbling a horse. The torque master isn't what this boat needs - it needs sporty to get you up and running - You might break 80 with it, but might not. This boat is very weight sensitive.

It will be listed in the For Sale forums tomorrow. I'm wanting a 22ft boat with dual console is reason I'm selling..it's posted up on FB Real Bullets Owners page. I'll make someone hell of a deal on it and save you some money!

I run one with a 250 4 stroke . 82 mph loaded with gas, full wells, 2 fat guysl etc. Make sure you get auxiliary gas tank if you make long runs (100+ miles round trip).

Hard to beat a 21’-10” Boat for fishing.....love the 21SST though, just hard to jump off the 21RDC when it does everything I need...even with an Old Yamaha on it!

Well Jim, here we go again, don't blame you though, a 22 ft(21'10") will fish and ride better, just wish I could hit trips one time in mine

Not meaning to highjack your thread but what's the difference between the SS and the SST?

I was looking at the brochure trying to figure out the exact same thing, only thing I could come up with is one has the center rod box and the other had the port rod box.

Rear deck is the same between the SS and SST, the front deck on the SST is the same as a XRS layout.

I like the that the SS has a bit more glass to TN mount the trolling motor and don't hang over the side of the boat as much. Not sure why they don't do that with all there boats.
