    College Baseball

There is some good teams in the state this year. Glad State was able to sweep the Bears, both are very good teams. Should be two regionals in state and all of the big 3 should still be playing. Depending how the seeding and where everybody goes all 3 have a chance to make it to the supers. This is my favorite time of year.

Love it too, Matt... I've thought since early in the season that State's got the goods (will 100% depend upon consistent pitching) for a return trip to Omaha... It'd be a crime if they didn't get to show off that gem of a ballpark with a Regional/Super.

Southern is knotted with FAU atop C-USA... Both have tough games tomorrow before hosting teams from the lower end of the conference for their final regular season weekend series... The tournament will be in Biloxi instead of Baseburg this year.

Really don't expect USM to go far (but hope I'm pleasantly surprised) in post-season... Flashes of brilliance, but just too inconsistent on the mound and they're definitely not the scoring machine they've been the past couple of years.

Either way, it'll all be fun to watch.

Almost forgot... Congrats to the Gulf South Conference Champs (3 of the last 4 years), Delta State.

They host the DII South Regional, beginning on Thursday. Good luck to Coach Kinnison and the Statesmen.

When it comes to college baseball, there's just not a better state in the nation than Mississippi.

Going to watch MSU Saturday with youngest son. Think it is the last home game.

Pretty stout group of Ferriss Trophy finalists announced yesterday.

While I'd like to see Wallner get it, I doubt that'll happen (hopefully, he'll come back to USM for his senior year and win it then).

I really think Jake Mangum is a lock (and deservedly so) for his second one.

Yall enjoy it. It will be the last regular season home game, but there will be a regional there for sure and super if State makes it out of the regional.

Pitching will be interesting next week in Hoover

I started out listening to baseball on the radio and a football game broke out at The Dude, last night.

How cool to have Buck Showalter on the broadcast with Jim, tonight...

Dude’s a baseball encyclopedia, without being overbearing...

    Enjoying this.

State had a chance for the west title and missed it. Looking forward to the SEC tournament and regional. Delta State is headed to the super regional in Tampa after their win yesterday.

Very cool. I always enjoy when Cohen gets on the broadcast as the color guy. It's amazing their knowledge of baseball and how they can usually tell you the strategy for both sides of the ball before it happens in the given situation.

Yep... That sweep in Fayetteville got 'em. I think they'll be okay, big picture (Regional), as long as they don't wear out their arms in Hoover. Has there been any word on whether MacNamee will be back for post-season?

Southern screwed the pooch down the stretch, going 4-6 in their last ten, including 2 losses to conference champs, FAU, who went 7-4... Next up, Biloxi.

Continued good luck to Delta State as they head for Tampa... Lots of tourney baseball this week.

Macnamee will be back. From what I understand, he could have played this past weekend but they wanted to make sure he was healed and ready for the post season.

Congrats to Jake... That kid is total class and it’s been fun watching his college career. Like you said, not many like him.

Anyone make it to the end of that game, last night/this morning?

Listening on the radio... I dozed off somewhere around the 14th or 15th inning; woke up and each team had scored another run making it 5 apiece. Was able to stay up to hear the walk-off shot in the bottom of the 17th just before 0300.

Southern shared in the drama yesterday as well, with Wallner launching a walk-off dinger in the 10th.

Good luck to both teams today and please... just win the games in a regulation 9 innings.

I started listening to the game at supper, then when I got off at 2:30 it was still on. Listened to the rest of it on the way home.

Hope the boys shake it off and are ready to host Friday.

How 'bout a 12-run/12-hit top of the 5th for the Eagles vs. Arizona State.

    SMTTT!!!

15-2 after their half of the 8th... Dang, save a few runs for tomorrow night, y'all.

Went to the State game today. Really enjoyed it and hated to not stay for tomorrow, but my parents 50th anniversary celebration is tomorrow night. Glad to see Southern Miss do well.
