Anybody got any experience with this boat with a 2002 mercury 225 efi motor. It is composite or wood
What is the value in good condition. Looking at one, wanting opinions. Thanks

I have a 97 912 savage with a 225 merc-I LOVE IT! Runs better than my 13 Z-9 with a 250 merc. Only drawback is they guzzle fuel
I have a 97 , 896 Savage with a 1997-225 e-tech and I LOVE IT! When I bought it in 2005 it had a Rude 225XP and that was a good set up. Great fishing platform, storage room to spare, great ride, comfortable cruise speed of 40-42 at half throttle, an that ETech throws you back in your seat at any throttle setting. It has wood in it, at least mine does. I got mine in a divorce situation and got a GREAT deal.
Wood encased In fiberglass. Nitro didn’t start using composite until recently but I wouldn’t let it scare you away. Wood has been the primary construction support for decades. In great condition I’d expect it to run about $5000-$6000 primarily because it’s a 23yo boat with a 17yo motor and older nitros unfortunately lose their value relatively quickly
1995 Ranger 481v
1995 Johnson Fast Strike 175hp
Nitro went all composite in 98 with the 9 series. The nx models , like the 896 does have wood. I believe the boat was build till 02.

I have a 1996 896. Great boat. Bought it new and regularly beat the heck out of it on the California Delta. Not sure why but it rides way smoother since I switched to a 10" jack plate. I've run it with no jack plate and a 6" jack plate. With the 10", speed dropped a hair but the ride is way more comfortable. These boats suffered from painfully slow time to plane. I added a foil to my gear case from Chris Bailey and it totally fixed the slow planing.
All boats with a rear tank design suffered from this.
