There were a couple over seven caught in the sturgeon bay open. Lots of big fish.

There was a tournament this weekend "the pre-Sturgeon Bay Open" after day one leaders had 32.76 for 5 fish, there were 7 fish over 6lbs weighed in. I'd say fishing is good!! 25th place was 5 for 22.98.
I think one fish was over 7.5# too. Giants

Behind schedule with this cold weather, the big weights being caught by SM experts.
Brett caught a 7.7.
I know the Cabelas Team Trail was last weekend? What other tournament was going on?
Water temps in the bays are around 47 to 50 way in the back of the bays. Fish are still in staging areas. You'll get small males cruising the flats only right now.
Sturgeon Bay Bass Tournament as well as the Cabelas Team Trail were last weekend. I was looking at the results of the Cabelas and a lot of familiar names were missing...they were all fishing the Sturgeon Bay Bass Tournament.
The Sturgeon Bay Open is May 16-19
Gotcha. I had forgotten about the Sturgeon Bay Bass Tournament
Wisco tournament coming up in a couple weeks

It is a great time to fish! Give my buddy Adam Rasmussen a call. One of the better fishermen I have ever been out with.

Hit or miss, the water is up,alot of current and behind two weeks from last year.
Fished Monday afternoon, Tuesday till noon (weather blew ) Wednesday till early afternoon. Little sturgeon bay to sturgeon bay. High water, cooler water temps (low to mid 50s). Crummy weather and Tough bite. Still we caught fish (best were...two 4lbers and one 5lber), just not as many as usual. No great pattern a lot of hit and miss.
Hammered them the last two days up there. Mostly fished Sister Bay and Ephraim areas. Water upper 50's touching 60 in the afternoons. There were a handfull of bucks on beds in the back of Ephraim, we left them alone and targeted main lake shoreline in 3-7 with jerkbaits and tubes. Figure we had about a 100 on Thursday and 75 on Friday. Biggest each day was about 4.5lbs...whats amazing is all those fish and only one that was under 14".
