Champion 181 or 187. Great riding and great fish boats. The 181 would run 63 with a 150 and the 187 was available with a 175. Then boats run like they are on rails. My ranger running 70 and my 181 running 63 the 181 felt faster and was more fun to drive.

I'm partial to my 481vs! Technically it's 19'3", but it has 15 inches of setback built in - it's an 18 foot boat.

One more thing to consider is deck width on the front of a charger 180 is pretty narrow in front of the lean seat pedestal.

I had a 90 model Basscat Caracal, fished big for a 17' boat, rated for a 150, but with the 135 I had was still a 60+ mph boat. I'm partial to the older Basscats

Javelin 379 was a great boat with a 150 faststrike. Best handling boat I ever been in and Mid 60's all day. Just not good in rough stuff. Ran a 24 raker worked by mark. I miss that little rocket

My first bass boat was a 1991 Ranger 482vs with a Johnson 175 Fast Strike. It was a great boat!

Mine is just a touch under 18 at 17'-7", Ranger 681VS. I fish more than just bass but primarily bass. One of the things I really like about it is the rod locker. I can get 9'-6" muskie rods in there easily, so when I want to chase big toothies, it isn't a problem, load up and go. It is a little narrow at 80" wide but much better than my old 14 foot lund that I graduated from. Rides nice in everything I have put it thru, easy to tow, can move it around by hand in the garage easily. Only thing I don't like about it is the gas tank is under the bow deck and can't put a recessed pedal in it. Just got a quote a few minutes back for repowering with a new 115 ProXS Four Stroke.

I'm not finding many that are 18 foot with a 150 or 175 horse rating that I would consider.

The only one that jumps out at me is the Bass Cat Margay.
Triton 18trx 200 hp rating fun boat for the money wide deck space.

It would be the Evinrude Intruder and Johnson Fastrike. 1991 I believe was the year before detuning in 1992.

    I had a 1994 Evinrude Intruder 150
on a 389 Javelin team boat very awesome setup for its time!

I would base my judgement “ on the 90’s hulls you still see on the water today !... all I see is Rangers & Champs ! all other brands are just rotting away somewhere now !...

I had a 1996 181 Champion that I bought new. Just sold it last year. Quick to get on plane. 60 mph with a Johnson 150. Turn on a dime. Very throttle responsive in big waves. Only thing I would have wanted changed was it had very little rear storage.
