New design has a gasket and you can add a slam latch for like $100. When I was boat shopping one thing I liked about Phoenix over the other boats was the big center box. Plus how easy and exact stride it is waking from the front deck to the center console to the back and vise versa. Only time I have really noticed any water in my boxes is when I soak my deck with the hose cleaning my carpet.
