    10XD

I have a 10xd rod that was a custom one and it isn’t working that well. What reasonably priced rods are you guys using for 10xd’s?

Not a bait that I fish a lot so I just picked up one of the latest generation of Bass Pro Crankin’ Stick 7’10” med hvy. It’s still slightly underpowered for the 10XD but I didn’t want to go to the Mag Hvy.

Anyway you look at with the 10 XD you will have to go to a Mag Heavy or a heavy action cranking rod. Swimbait rod will work I believe Phil Marks was using Power Tackles SB4 for the prototype on Sam Rayburn to catch them on them. They have one now it’s the XLC Cranker now and it’s amazing for 8XDs and 10XDs. Try the rods for sale page and see if you can find a used 10XD rod so your not spending a bunch of money. The reviews for the bps cranking rods are pretty good always here good things about them and the reel is a other factor also no more then 6:4.1 that i have found.

+1 on the Falcon Lowrider XD Cranker, although I'm not sure if they still label it the "XD Cranker." It's their 7'9" Heavy Moderate.

There is a BPS Crankin Stick that is H power that will work but I am really liking the Kistler Helium 3 H Power Moderate action rod for them. It has also been good for lighter hard Swimbaits, A rig and deep flipping. It is more $$ but it can be used for multiple techniques

Daiwa Kage 791MHRB (A-Rig) or if you like a little longer rod the Kage 711HRB (Mag Spoon). Both models have a lot of back bone but parabolic bends. I have been using the A-Rig rod to crank a 10XD on Guntersvile Ledges and love it. Long Cast are easy and the bait doesn't wear you out near as fast with this big blank.

Real question is what is “reasonably priced” to you?

    I throw mine on a 7' - 10 heavy flipping stick.

Every other crank bait, including the 8XD, I throw on glass rods, but I haven't found one that will handle the 10 XD.

It's my Alabama rig rod. Take off the 50 and put on 30 lb Power Pro and let her fly. Generally using a BB2 reel, because of the line capacity.

Loomis doesn't make it any more but if you can find a CBR959C DD it's the best big Crankbait rod!!

    I use a Dobyns Champion 795sbr with a Curado 301E for LC SKT Mag 120, Original Powell Max 806cb with a Revo Winch for 10xd and a Powell TW 805cb for 8xd with a Curado I 6.3:1

Powell Inferno 765 SBR works well for me,plus you can use it for many other baits.
