Had my 4th or 5th trip yesterday on my Ionics (2x 50AH for a 80lb Terrova) yesterday. I was concerned about 50AH being big enough for my 21 bay with a ttop & thought I might upgrade to a 36v TM this winter, but holding off for now to see if MK offers a brushless model anytime soon. So far, the lowest I've run the batteries is around 76%, which was a day we spent 2hrs spot locked on the jetties with heavy tide and wind. Added a lithium profile trollbridge recently, which I've used a handful of times - with the trollbridge, I seem to end at about mid 80ish%. Pretty impressive.
I'm about ready to pull the trigger on new ionics. Anyone here fish rivers or any of the big lakes / oceans with them?
I'm on the fence about triple 50s or triple 100s to go with my 36V ulterra
I fish Detroit River, Saginaw River and Saginaw Bay for walleye. The two Rivers run about 1-2mph and I use the trolling motor to stay vertical while jigging. On previous setup I was using a 24V terrova and would typically be at 4-6 at start of the day and 7-8 by the end of the day on a 5-6 hour fishing session.
On the bay, I intend to have my kicker motor get me to 1.5-1.8mph and then use the trolling motor to get me aimed in the right direction and at my desired trolling speed of 1.8-2.1. I didn't do that.much with the Terrova because it was too big of a pain to setup everything and keep it driving straight without a iPilot link. I'm going to link my bird drop a waypoint and hit go. new motor will be an ulterra. This is where my concern is. Drift fishing is a lot of on and off not constant drain.
ifish in Canada a few times a year and charging opportunity is about 6-7 hours a day. Typically 2 hours at lunch and one tank of fuel in the camp generator at night. I don't think I'd have any issues if I can get plugged in twice a day with either set regardless of fishing style.
I saw back on page 30 or something a guy managed to kill 50s in 20mph wind. wondering if anyone else has regretted going 50s. Obviously cost is a factor, but space is also a consideration for me. My boat only has room for 2 100s in the normal box but I would definitely be able to get all 3 50s in there. Or maybe 2 50s and the starting battery.
Boat is a 19' fiber glass

You should have no problems. I fish big water all the time up north. ( 1000isl. Ontario. All NY finger lakes. Never ran down My Ionics below 60% in 2-3 days of prefish and a tournament.
Good batteries Ill run an 16&12 live + spotlock and livewell pumps all day long and run around a bit never had 125 ionic below 70% Good batteries.
125amp for the main & 3 50amp for the Ultrex.
Good news coming on Ionic. I've heard the new Ionic onboard battery charger's have arrived in US customs. We may be able to get them next week. At least hoping!

At what point does the "New" wear off of the Li battery and the state of charge percentage of use starts going down or the full charge doesn't last as long????
Hopefully i explain it right: example, brand new batteries, fish 8 hrs/day and it only gets down to 90%. 9 months later, still fishing same style, same amount of hours and its now gets down to 75%. In other words the charge does not hold as long it did the first time you used them.

Are you charging it back up to 100 % after each use ? if so, that may be your problem. let it run down more between charges.

I think this has been made clear, but the main point is that to get max life out of them you don't want to discharge below 80% discharged, 20% charge remaining as stated above. If you stay out of that zone, you shouldn't experience shorter run times etc.
Which leads me do wonder, what eventually does one in and brings use to an end with one of these? What inevitably will change internally to cause them to become dysfunctional?

ok, should I charge my Ionic 50's after a days fishing??? Have only run them below 85% 3 times in 8 or 9 trips.

They do not benefit with charging at 85%. I look at it as a convenience thing with Lithium. Whenever its convenient to do it,do it. Till you get below 20% remaining you will not loose any of the length of service you are expecting. Unlike when lead acid and going below the 50% mark. Bob
Tell me where has a slow movin' once quick draw outlaw got to go
Pretty excited...
Just placed an order for a set of Ionic batteries, one 125AH Starting battery and two 100AH Trolling batteries along with the 4bank Ionic Charger.
Special THANKS to Andy, he was very helpful and spent 30-40 minutes with me on the phone answering my questions and helping me fully understand what I needed to know.
Cant wait to get the system in place!

I have the 112 ultex and looking at getting ionic 50ah or millertech 65ah. Do you think the 50ah will last as long in a day of hard fishing as my 31 series interstates? I have ran them dead on st Clair before.
Thanks
