    Fury 4?

    Hello,

I am currently running a 25P High Five, and am looking to switch to a Fury 4blade to gain a little of the top end back that I lost with the high 5 but hopefully not sacrifice much of the handling the high5 provides especially in rough seas as I run the great lakes often.

    I run a 1996 Ranger 391v (19"3') powered by a 2002 Merc 200HP EFI 2.5L.

I should also say that I run shy of optimum rpm at wot (5400-5500) with my 25p high 5, Optimum is around 5600-5750 I believe.

My question is what pitch Fury4 might be best based off of this information?

    Thanks guys.

    I'd choose a 25P Fury4

Will or I guess should I be able to turn more RPM's with the 25P Fury4 compared to my existing 25P High 5?

I'd really like to turn at least 5600 at WOT, like I meantioned with my 25P high 5 I am only turning about 5500 at WOT.

Many times when you add a blade, You drop 1 pitch to maintain similar rpms... The opposite can be true. So dropping a blade and not going up in pitch might increase rpms. Plus, The Fury4 can probably run higher on the jackplate.

The fury is great prop til you lose a blade
Do yourself a favor, buy a bravo or trophy.

My mercury dealer sent it in to mercury
But they told him if the prop had any Nick's or scrapes that they wouldn't cover it, but to send it in anyway and mercury would look at it.
So idk but it doesn't look good for me.

Youre suggesting a trophy over a fury so he dont throw a blade?

Any Blade not made for surfacing will throw a blade. To answer your question. Fury 4's run stiffer than a Trophy, therefore from the RPM range you mentioned, I would recommend a 24 Fury 4, however, the Fury 4 so far have been 3-5 mph slower than the Trophy on some of the heavier made bass boats.

There is a lot of guys that have thrown a blade on the fury 4’s. Mercury knows this and has warrantied some. At this point, you may get lucky and never have an issue.

I have a 2008 27 pitch trophy that has over 600hrs of run time on it between two bassboats . My boats run in the high 70s low 80s . If you are continuously throwing blades on a set up something else is going on causing turbulence at the prop .
