Curious if anyone has one of the new Merc V8's in a 250 or 300 on the V20.

My 2018 came with 250 V8 but I just upgraded to a 300R V8
What are you seeing for top end with the 300R? Which prop are you using? Let's see some pics!
Did you use the boat with the 250 before upgrading? If so, what difference did you see between the 2.
I put 49 hours on the 250, 72 with full load 1/2 tank 70 with full tank(24 fury). I never run it truly lite. With the 300R I have run 78.6 solo with half tank and 75.3 with two people (25 fury). I just got a Bravo and plan to try it this weekend. After running the 300R you can tell they are really holding the 250 back the 300 climbs a lot quicker on the last 10 mph. The V20 isn't a Bullet its a big wide and heavy rig catching a lot of air and this motor matches it well. No telling what it would run if I didn't have to haul 25rods and half of tackle warehouse around.
I posted some pics last June on 2nd page of V20's currently being built.
I would think the 300R would be faster than that? TM or SM lower unit? Do you have power poles and AGM batteries?
Poles and lithium’s (2-36 and 1-12 house) 1- Agm cranking TM lower. Still got to figure out what prop. I just got a 26.5 Bravo to try this Saturday but seems like the only time we get on the water is for a tournament.
I had a 15 model V20...I didn't have poles but I had lithium batteries...I hit 76 mph one time with two guys (about 400 lbs total), livewells empty, and 1/4 tank of fuel...25 Fury with a Mercury Pro XS 250 2 stroke...Most of the time it was a 72-74 mph boat though.
Let me get some hours on it, get it loosened up and find the right prop. Most of these numbers were loaded. Did I mention I take the kitchen sink
Yea...I want to hear more about your setup when you have it dialed in...I was loaded lightly and my boat was a 15 model...I think they were laid pretty light because it ended up cracking like an egg. I didn't have many hours on my motor though. It was around the time Mercury started to detune the 250 Pro XS but mine might have been a strong one.
I would like to hear your results as well since I am in the process of re-powering from a 250XS to the 300R. My 250 only has 40 hours on it so someone is going to get a really good deal.
You putting yours on a V20 also?
Make sure you get the updated hot foot side plate or modify your existing hot foot to work with the new motors...If you have a bottom load hot foot then disregard my previous statement.
It's very important to be sure you are getting 100% throttle with the new motors.
Update: Not impressed at all with 26.5 Bravo. It was a dog out of the hole and would only bump 73 with full tourney load ( two and 50 gallons fuel) so back to the drawing board.
...Have you played with ventilation/plugs any?
What RPM were you turning with the 25 Fury?
Tempest maybe?
That is the plan but cannot locate one. Also, keep going back and forth on 300R vs 300 Pro XS. Not sure the 300R is worth the extra cost and as effective for a bass boat application.
Up to you man but I would get the 300R...It is substantially stronger than the 300 Pro XS and you have 200 more RPM to play with. My only hesitation was the cost of the extended warranty. The 300R is the absolute best performing motor in the 300 HP class.
All of these motors are 20 months out to get one in.
You should be able to find a 300R sooner than that...
